Team Appointed to Deliver Next Phase of Regeneration Project

A team of four project staff started work at Morecambe Winter Gardens this month, as part of a

2-year project with the aim of increasing volunteer and audience engagement.  

Since being awarded £2.78 million from the Cultural Development Fund last year, work has been completed on capital improvements including restoration of the theatre’s unique Victorian ceramic floor and other lost architectural features. With more capital work due to commence later this year.

A 4-strong staff team will run the second phase of the grant delivery, beginning this month, the project is funded up until April 2026. 

The project also includes the launch of a Young Creatives programme, in partnership with Lancaster and Morecambe College. Thanks to UKSPF funding from Lancaster City Council, the project will benefit from a new post based at the College, working directly with young people on their engagement with the Winter Gardens. 

Terry Allum is the theatre’s new Events & Engagement Coordinator, working with local organisations as well as curating an exciting new programme of events. Terry will also lead on the Young Creatives programme. 

Rick Woodstock is the new Volunteer Coordinator, tasked with recruiting a crack team of dedicated and skilled volunteers, to continue looking after the venue. 

Don Hastie is the team’s Project Support Officer, setting up robust systems to modernise working practices and promote efficiency. 

Char Binns is the new Digital Support Officer, driving audience engagement through increased social media presence and an updated website.
